Death’s-Head Hawkmoth · Animal Skull

A meditation on mortality, centred on the death’s-head hawkmoth and its naturally occurring skull marking. Paired with the remains of another species, the work considers the recurring presence of death within the natural world.

This specimen is displayed in a shadow box frame which can be hung on the wall or positioned upright atop a desk or shelf away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Also available with a black background to further accentuate the intensity and contrast of the colours.

Please specify if you would like a black frame, white frame or black background at checkout.

Dimensions: 17.5 × 23 × 4.5 cm

Nicole has hand pinned and prepared each specimen with precision to show case their vibrant colours and uniqueness.

Please be aware that the specimen you will receive may slightly differ in colour, shape, or size slightly as you are purchasing a natural object.

SOURCING OF SPECIMENS

We source our specimens from a number of insect suppliers globally.

Many specimens are captive bred and others are wild caught. No protected species are dealt with.

Insect breeding / collecting is sustainable and is a good source of income for people who often live in very remote places.

Most species are only available for short periods each year and in limited quantities, and may not be available every year.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Please allow 3-5 days processing time as each piece is made to order.

As we are a small workshop, we do not accept returns or exchanges, unless required by law.
